Mobile devices have become such an important part of our everyday life that one could wonder how we ever managed without them!

For a while, the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM), has been pushed away from the limelight to make way for new services such as instant messaging, mobile marketing, social networking and so on. But the SIM is making a significant come back and is getting back its deserved share of attention in the mobile world.

The KeySyncML™ project is a highly innovative technology achievement that puts SyncML directly into the heart of the SIM and therefore leverages on the potential that SIM-based application can offer.

The SIM is the backbone of mobile communication and does contain information of fundamental importance. In fact, as a tool that securely manages a subscriber's identity, the SIM is the only remaining element of the mobile network operator actually owns.

We believe that the way in which a mobile network operator chooses to use the SIM could offer huge potential to drive revenues from the next generation of mobile applications.

With this in mind, the concept of the KeySyncML™ project was born and has been developed implementing the specifications of OMA SyncML protocol on JavaCard technology.
